​ April to July: April to June is one of the best times of the year to visit Leh. The sun shines bright and keeps the day temperatures warm. Leh has beautiful clear blue skies but do remember that the sun here has the intensity to carve out brand new noses for travellers who fail to wear a few layers of strong (with a 50+ SPF) sunscreen.

Leh showcases a different kind of frozen beauty in April in the form of snow-capped mountains, and frozen lakes that you can walk upon. Leh renders a different kind of feel as it recovers from the freezing winters.

July to August: The monsoon months, i.e. late July till end of August sometimes experience landslides and cloud bursts.

September to October: Starting September a kind of chill sets in Leh but the sun keeps shining. This is also a great time to go trekking.

November to February: People don’t prefer to travel to Leh during the winter months from November to February. The winters on the “roof of the world” can get unbearable. With the exception of the Liker to Kahltsey (Sham) trek, most trekking routes close down after November due to heavy snowfall. The Chadar trek is best conducted between January and mid-March.

Off Season

The monsoon months, i.e. late July till end of August and the winter months (November to February) are usually off season.

Day 01: Drive Sham Valley & Alchi -70km Sightseeing of 1000 year old Alchi monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the Likir Monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here you'll be awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues., Indus & Zanskar river Sangam, drive along the Indus river visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill(where the cars defy gravity), Basgo Palace Hiking only and further on to Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia)

Day 02: Tour of Khardungla Pass 18380 Ft. Nubra Valley and Hundur Sand Dunes – Drive 120km 4/5hrs After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft) Arrive at Hundur by Afternoon. Rest of the day, Post lunch free to explore Diskit, Hundur Villages and camel Safari in Sand Dunes between Diskit and Hunder Village. Overnight stay in Nubra.

Day 03: Nubra Valley (Local Sightseeing) And Back To Leh, evening Shanti Stupa & Leh visit Diskit & Hunder Villages and monasteries take a stroll around the place to see the life style of people living at the northernmost region of India. Drive back to leh via Khardungla pass. Overnight Stay in Leh.

Day 04: Leh to Pangong Lake - Leh (160 Km / 6 Hrs one way),

Proceed to Pangong Lake (14,500ft), through Chang la Pass 17,350 ft. Thiksey Monastery, located on a hillock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh is also enroute Pangong and we stop here before moving ahead. We also stop to see the 3 Idiots School Campus Sindhu Darshan visit. Now we proceed to Pangong. It is the third highest motorable road in the world (320 Kms.) round trip. Enjoy the beauty of lake on the banks of Pangong while appreciating the changing colors of the high Altitude Lake.
